The FIA have adjourned Haas’ right of review case to Thursday, to allow the governing body to evaluate the evidence provided by the American team.

Haas lodged a right of review during last weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix for the results of the United States Grand Prix to be looked over, as a result of several drivers having exploited track limits without being penalised.

It’s Turn 6 at the Circuit of the Americas which is believed to be the issue, with Alex Albon, Sergio Perez, Logan Sargeant and Lance Stroll having supposedly all cut the corner multiple times.

If marshalled correctly, then the four drivers would’ve resulted a time penalty, something Haas are clearly pushing for.

Nico Hulkenberg finished the US GP in 11th, with Perez claiming fourth, Stroll in seventh, Albon in ninth and Sargeant in P10.

If the FIA agree with Haas’ “clear evidence” that the named drivers cut the corner several times, then all of them could receive at least a five-second time penalty.

Should this happen, then Sargeant would be demoted outside the top-10 and Hulkenberg would be promoted to ninth.

With the battle in the lower end of the Constructors’ Championship being so close, every point is vital for teams like Williams and Haas.

Haas’ evidence provided to the FIA is reportedly a significant amount of onboard footage, with it set to be down to the governing body to decide if this classes as “new evidence” or not.

READ: FIA explain why Lewis Hamilton avoided penalty

The reason this situation has occurred is because the CCTV cameras at that corner didn’t allow the FIA to marshal track limits at Turn 6, something which Haas do respect but think should still be looked into given the onboard footage they’ve discovered.

An answer to Haas’ right of review is expected on Thursday despite the hearing having started on Wednesday, with it having been adjourned for US GP stewards Felix Holter, Andrew Mallalieu, Derek Warwick and Dennis Dean to “independently consider” the evidence.

Should Haas be successful and time penalties are applied, then this will massively hurt Williams, as their seven-point advantage over AlphaTauri in P7 will be reduced with two races remaining.

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has revealed that the American team has “clear evidence” that several drivers exceeded track limits at Turn 6 at the United States Grand Prix without being penalised, including Sergio Perez.

It was confirmed last weekend during the Brazilian Grand Prix that Haas had lodged a ‘right of review’ of the 2023 US GP results, due to having proof that some drivers weren’t penalised for exceeding track limits.

Turn 6 at the Circuit of the Americas is believed to be where the issue is, as some discovered onboard footage does show drivers like Perez cutting the corner several times.

Under the FIA’s rules, Perez should’ve technically been given a time penalty for exceeding the track at Turn 6 as often as he did, something which could still happen after the FIA hear Haas’ evidence.

An FIA hearing over the matter is taking place on Wednesday, with Haas, Williams, Aston Martin and Red Bull to be present.

The governing body have admitted to not having the data available to them during the recent US GP to check track limits at every corner, which has arguably resulted in the latest drama.

If the FIA agree with Haas’ evidence and penalise drivers as a result, then Nico Hulkenberg could be bumped up from P11 into the points.

On the flip side, Perez could be dropped from fourth, which would see his 32-point advantage over Lewis Hamilton shrink.

Haas will presumably be hoping that Williams are also slapped with a time penalty, given that Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant finished ninth and 10th.

With the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship being so close, every point is vital for Haas.

Steiner can understand that the FIA weren’t able to penalise drivers for cutting Turn 6 as they didn’t have the “correct information”; however, he stresses that they will be shown “clear evidence”.

“There are rules,” Steiner said, as reported by The Express.

“If the stewards do not have the correct information, then of course they cannot intervene. We completely understand that. However, now we have the information and we will see what the FIA does once they have that information at their disposal.

“I completely understand that they have not seen the images yet, but if that is the case, how can they make a decision with certainty? However, now we have clear evidence.”

It’s been confirmed that Haas have called for the FIA to double-check the results of the recent United States Grand Prix, with the American side believing that track limits weren’t correctly marshalled.

The recent US GP was a dramatic weekend in regard to the regulations, as both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified after the race due to their planks not complying with the technical regulations.

This in itself had a huge impact on the results at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), as Hamilton finished second whilst Leclerc finished fifth prior to their DSQ.

Despite the event having taken place two weeks ago, the results could be set to change once again, as Haas have lodged a protest within the 14-day time period.

A Haas representative did confirm to The Race that the team had filed a “right of review request” in regard to the stewards not dealing with track limits appropriately, at the US GP.

Turn 6 is believed to be what has annoyed Haas, with onboard footage since the race having shown that several drivers cut the corner on multiple occasions.

This has understandably frustrated the bottom-placed team in the Constructors’ Championship, as Nico Hulkenberg finished in P11 at COTA.

Any drivers found guilty of having exceeded track limits could, in theory, receive a time penalty, which could bump Hulkenberg into the top-10.

Lando Norris inherited second place following Hamilton’s retirement but the McLaren driver admitted at the time that he cut Turn 6 during the race, as he was under the impression that the stewards “couldn’t penalise me”.

Seemingly, the drivers have been told that they won’t be penalised for exceeding track limits if they “can’t visually” see the corner, with the Briton believing that it’s just a “grey area” that some were clever enough to exploit.

READ: Oscar Piastri’s mum responds to Fernando Alonso being her son’s dad

“I did it as well, to be honest,” Norris admitted to reporters after the US GP.

“I knew it was a corner they couldn’t penalise me because they set the precedent in previous tracks of ‘if you can’t visually see it, you’re going to get away with it’.”

He added: “You have to know the grey areas and the things you can get away with and that was one of them. So to everyone that did to it, fair play.”

The return of Daniel Ricciardo to the grid in Texas was met with enthusiasm, but the challenges of his comeback were evident despite the signature cowboy hat.

Ricciardo had been on the sidelines for the past four rounds, nursing a broken wrist sustained in a practice crash at the Dutch Grand Prix in August.

His return to the F1 car took place earlier this week during a Red Bull promotional event in Nashville, and he resumed his position on the grid in practice on Friday.

Expressing his relief at being back, Ricciardo spoke about his improved hand and the necessary assessment of its condition, stating, “It’s good to be back. My hand is much better, and the simulator was a useful way of assessing it.

“I tried it out in the week before Qatar, but I didn’t feel it was at full potential.”

Ricciardo also shared his frustration at watching the past few races from the sidelines, having eagerly anticipated his return to racing.

He emphasised that the period without racing seemed to pass quickly.

Despite his cheerful demeanour and iconic cowboy hat, it was clear that Ricciardo’s return to the F1 grid wouldn’t be without its challenges.

The United States Grand Prix featured a sprint race on Saturday, leaving Ricciardo with just one practice session before qualifying.

In qualifying, Ricciardo finished in a disappointing 15th place, trailing his teammate Yuki Tsunoda by three-tenths, who secured the 11th position.

Ricciardo expressed his desire for more time to adapt to the car and make improvements, saying, “There’s a few things for sure I would’ve liked to have got out of the car, but it’s hard to know how much we can do in an hour and then go straight into qualifying.”

He added, “But I’d love more, I feel like we can give more.

“There was nothing else holding me back today. It was trying to find the feeling in the car and the set-up.

“As the track started to ramp up, we started to plateau a little bit.”

Charles Leclerc’s United States Grand Prix couldn’t have gone any worse on Sunday, despite the fact he started on pole position.

Whilst Leclerc started on pole, his time in the lead lasted only a matter of seconds, as Lando Norris overtook him at the first corner.

It quickly became clear that Ferrari didn’t have the pace to compete with the frontrunners, as Leclerc was soon overtaken by both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Ferrari opted to put Leclerc onto a one-stop strategy, something only a couple of drivers attempted at the Circuit of the Americas.

Want to work in Formula 1? Browse the latest F1 job vacancies

Ex-Formula 1 driver Martin Brundle seemed to recognise that Leclerc was attempting a one-stop strategy fairly early on in the race, as the 26-year-old put up very little fight against either Hamilton or Verstappen.

“Leclerc was a day late and a dollar short on that defence,” Brundle said, whilst commentating for Sky Sports F1.

Leclerc was just trying to nurse his tyres; however, the two-stop strategy was significantly quicker.

This resulted in Carlos Sainz overtaking Leclerc for P4, with the Spaniard having been put on the ideal two-stop strategy by Ferrari.

Leclerc was infuriated by this given that he was put on the riskier strategy, despite having started from pole position.

He complained over the radio and insisted that it’d be discussed behind-the-scenes after the race.

Even Sergio Perez managed to get past Leclerc, who crossed the line in P5.

In the end, Leclerc’s efforts were for absolutely nothing, as he was disqualified from the race.

Random post-race checks discovered that the floor of his SF-23 didn’t meet the technical regulations, neither did Hamilton’s.

Both drivers were disqualified as a result, rubbing salt in the wound for Leclerc.

Given how strong Leclerc looked over one-lap at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), the fact he was given a weaker strategy by Ferrari does raise eyebrows.

It became clear very early in the race that a one-stop strategy wouldn’t work, with tyre degradation having been particularly high.

Ferrari ultimately left it too late to switch to a one-stop, meaning that questions will once again be asked regarding their strategic management.

Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko believes that a group of Mexican fans were behind the substantial booing during the United States Grand Prix podium celebrations on Sunday, where Max Verstappen stood on the top step for the 50th time in his career.

Verstappen recovered superbly from sixth on the grid to win at the Circuit of the Americas for the third season in a row, which marked his 15th win of 2023.

This equals his 2022 record of 15 wins, which is the most victories a driver has ever claimed in a single campaign.

It wasn’t an easy win though, as he had to deal with a brake issue throughout the race.

Nevertheless, it was the three-time World Champion who was presented with the first-place trophy once again, seemingly to the crowds’ disappointment.

As Verstappen received the trophy, there was an enormous wave of boos from those in attendance, which continued during the Dutch and Austrian national anthems.

Marko was disappointed by this and criticised fans of Sergio Perez, who he insisted didn’t “maintain the fair sporting standard”.

“We are in contact with a lot of Mexicans,” Marko told Sky Germany.

“The majority are very friendly and fair, but there are always some, let’s say enthusiastic people, who don’t maintain the fair sporting standard. But we have no concerns and are happy to go to Mexico.”

Perez was extremely well supported at the US GP and was seen waving to fans well after the race had finished, something which was captured live on Sky Sports F1’s post-session show ‘Ted’s Notebook’.

Perez waved to his fans with his son by his side, whilst the 33-year-old also signed plenty of flags and caps.

He was easily the most supported driver at the event, alongside Lewis Hamilton who also received plenty of cheers.

It is, of course, the Mexican Grand Prix this weekend, where Verstappen was booed last weekend.

READ: Red Bull break silence on replacing Sergio Perez with Fernando Alonso

Whether that’ll happen again or not will soon be discovered; however, the rumours of Perez being replaced by Daniel Ricciardo certainly won’t help the situation.

Supposedly, Red Bull will consider replacing Perez if he doesn’t claim second in the Drivers’ Championship, something which looks more in the Mexican’s favour now after Hamilton was disqualified on Sunday.

Hamilton was disqualified after his car failed a post-race plank inspection, meaning Perez now has a 39-point advantage over the seven-time World Champion in the standings.

The Red Bull driver was up to third in no time at all, before he was called into the pits to complete an undercut on early race leader Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton.

Norris’ advantage over Verstappen was slightly too big for an undercut to be performed; however, the 26-year-old still gained significant time.

He overtook the McLaren driver into Turn 12 on Lap 28, to claim what was the lead of the race as Hamilton had entered the pits a few laps before.

When Verstappen hit the front, most expected him to clear off into the distance but this wasn’t the case.

Norris continued to push Verstappen until he started to fall away from the Dutch driver and fell into the clutches of Hamilton.

The order remained the same after the second round of pit-stops were made, with Verstappen having still been in the lead.

However, Verstappen and Red Bull seemed to start panicking, as proven by the 50-time race winner’s shouting over the radio.

It became clear that Verstappen was nursing a brake problem, although it was Lambiase talking to him whilst he was braking which fuelled his anger.

“Please! No talking under braking!” shouted Verstappen over the radio to Lambiase.

Verstappen’s frustration with Lambiase only heightened as Hamilton started to close him down in the final few laps, after overtaking Norris for second.

Lambiase then seemingly spoke to Verstappen again whilst he was braking, resulting in another fiery response from the driver.

“No talking! I’m braking,” Verstappen shouted once again.

Verstappen just about maintained in the lead to claim his 15th win of the season, matching his record for the most victories in a single campaign.

He also congratulated his race engineer during his cooldown lap for a good performance, despite the pair having bumped heads not for the first time this season.

Piastri endured a challenging US GP, with him having been consistently slower than Lando Norris throughout the weekend at the Circuit of the Americas.

After finishing Saturday’s sprint race outside the points in P10, Piastri was hopeful of being amongst the points in the main race.

Starting from 10th on the grid with a car which has made huge progress over recent rounds, points were certainly on the cards.

Those cards quickly disappeared for Piastri though, who collided with Esteban Ocon on the exit of the fast second corner on the opening lap.

Piastri’s right-rear tyre made contact with Ocon’s left sidepod, which forced the Alpine driver to retire shortly after.

Ocon retired significantly earlier than Piastri, who was called into the pits to retire himself on Lap 10 whilst running in sixth.

It was a huge disappointment for the 22-year-old; however, he didn’t feel like anyone was to blame for the unfortunate impact.

“There’s fluid all down the right sidepod, and that’s where the contact was, so yeah, that was probably the cause of the end of the race,” Piastri said, as reported by Speedcafe.com.

“I didn’t really think anything of it (the collision), to be honest. I felt like I definitely had the right to be there.

“I don’t think Esteban did anything untoward. We met and, unfortunately, it’s caused damage for both of us. Just one of those incidents.”

The US GP has certainly been a more challenging weekend for Piastri, mostly due to how challenging COTA is for new drivers.

Nevertheless, the McLaren driver was pleased with the progress he’d made in each session, with it having just been a shame that his race ended so soon.

“Throughout practice and qualifying, I was improving through each session,” Piastri added.

READ: Charles Leclerc fumes at his engineer

“But then obviously going into the sprint, it was the first time we’d done consecutive laps in racing conditions, and it’s kind of just starting the learning process all over again.

“Today was a better step forward from yesterday, maybe still not quite to the level I would have liked, but definitely a big improvement from yesterday.

“A shame it’s over early because I think there’s still a lot of learning to go on from this afternoon. I was getting better and better – I just needed to do it a bit quicker.”

A fan has insisted that they’ll “riot” if Sky Sports F1 ever cancel Martin Brundle’s famous grid walks, whilst others lamented an awkward moment he had with heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua.

The ex-Formula 1 driver turned pundit conducted his traditional grid walk on Sunday at the United States Grand Prix, where the grid was littered with celebrities.

Several were part of a consortium who have invested £173 million into Alpine, something which was announced ahead of this weekend.

Joshua is one of the individuals in the consortium, with Brundle having been keen to talk to him on the grid.

However, when Brundle approached the boxer, the former heavyweight World Champion was deep in conversation.

It was a conversation which seemed like it was never going to end, although Brundle was confident that the boxer had noticed that he was waiting to interview him.

“I think he’s seen us,” Brundle said on Sky Sports F1, whilst waiting very patiently.

He did start to get the feeling, though, that perhaps a conversation with the heavyweight boxer wasn’t going to happen.

“If not, I think we’re going to chat with Rory McIlroy and can come back,” he added.

Several fans noted on social media that the incident was incredibly awkward, with one fan comparing it to waiting for their mum to end a conversation “in the supermarket”.

“Brundle waiting for Anthony Joshua to finish his conversation is like me when I wait for my mum to stop talking to someone in the supermarket,” joked one fan.

Another insisted that Brundle’s grid walks must never end, otherwise they’ll “riot”.

“If they ever get rid of the Martin Brundle grid walk I will riot,” a fan stressed.

Brundle’s patience was eventually rewarded, as Joshua turned to speak to the ex-F1 driver with a typically big smile on his face.

Joshua was quickly asked about his new involvement with Alpine, to which he noted that “sport is changing”.

“Sport is changing, we’re crossing over and I have a great team that I work with,” said Joshua.

“Obviously, F1 is massive but, hopefully, Alpine can have direct, committed supporters and fans like myself now, who will be here head-to-toe in Alpine gear.”

Max Verstappen recovered from sixth on the grid to win the United States Grand Prix, whilst he also survived a late scare caused by a rapid Lewis Hamilton.

The Red Bull driver started from the unusual position after his best lap in Q3 on Friday was deleted for exceeding track limits, meaning he had some overtaking to do at the Circuit of the Americas.

He got on with his job to get to the front from the get-go on Sunday, as he overtook George Russell for fifth at the first corner.

Verstappen almost instantly settled into the race, which was a two-stop for the vast majority of drivers.

It quickly became clear that the Dutchman had significantly better pace than both Ferrari drivers ahead of him, something which saw him overtake both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in the opening stages.

He found himself in third when he opted to be the first of the lead drivers to pit, creating somewhat of a chain reaction as early race leader Lando Norris pitted a lap later.

Whilst Verstappen didn’t undercut Norris, he did close right onto the back of the Briton.

This allowed the 26-year-old a chance to overtake the McLaren driver, something he did on Lap 28 to claim the lead of the race, as Hamilton had pitted.

Verstappen never really broke too far away from Norris, with the duo having remained close after their second pit-stops.

During the final stint of the race though, Norris did drop comfortably behind Verstappen, to the point where he was overtaken by Hamilton.

Hamilton pitted later than both Norris and Verstappen once again at the second round of pit-stops and fitted the Medium tyre.

Verstappen and Norris were on the Hard compound, giving the seven-time World Champion a pace and grip advantage.

The Mercedes driver tried his absolute maximum to catch Verstappen, who was nursing a brake problem which was making him furious over the team radio.

His brake issue appeared to be more severe in the final few laps, as Hamilton reduced Verstappen’s lead from five seconds to just under two seconds in the space of a handful of laps.

Hamilton’s late push ultimately came too late though, as Verstappen brought his car home for a record-equaling 15th win of the season.

Verstappen not only matched his 2022 record for the most wins in a single season, his win marked his third consecutive victory at the Circuit of the Americas and his fifth on American soil in a row.

To top it all off, the Dutchman’s win was the 50th of his F1 career.

Should he win the remaining four races, then he’ll eclipse Sebastian Vettel’s 53 GP wins and move into third on the all-time winners list.
