Racing Bulls team principal Alan Permane believes Liam Lawson showed flashes of “genius” during a difficult 2025 Formula 1 campaign.

The New Zealander’s season was defined by upheaval, pressure, and a gradual climb back into form.

Lawson, 23, was promoted to Red Bull at the start of the year but was swiftly demoted just two races into the season.

Struggles to adapt to the demanding RB21 left him vulnerable during the opening rounds.

The setback followed an already fragmented introduction to Formula 1.

Liam Lawson had previously stepped in mid-season for Daniel Ricciardo in both 2023 and 2024, denying him a conventional rookie pathway.

His move to the Milton Keynes-based senior team was meant to be different.

An uninterrupted winter and full pre-season programme were expected to give him stability for the first time.

That opportunity disappeared when Red Bull opted to switch Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda early in the campaign.

The decision left Lawson without the benefit of winter testing continuity or deep integration with a new engineering group.

Starting from behind, Lawson needed several races to approach the pace of his new Racing Bulls team-mate Isack Hadjar.

The gap only began to close around the Monaco Grand Prix.

From that point onward, Lawson regularly matched the highly rated Frenchman, who is set to partner Max Verstappen at Red Bull in 2026.

Across the final 16 races of the season, Hadjar outscored Lawson by just two points.

The margin highlighted how competitive Lawson became once settled.

Strong weekends in Austria, Hungary, and Azerbaijan stood out amid a run of consistent finishes.

Those performances may have been decisive for his future in the sport.

While Tsunoda will serve as Red Bull’s reserve driver next season, Lawson has retained his Racing Bulls seat.

He will line up alongside rookie Arvid Lindblad in 2026.

Permane acknowledged that Lawson’s underlying potential was clear, even during tougher periods, according to a source.

“I really see some genius in there,” he said.

The team principal pointed to Lawson’s best races as examples of what he can deliver.

“And I think it’s down to all of us, himself included, to try and figure out, when it goes very, very well, and it does go very, very well a lot of times – you have exceptional races in Austria, in Budapest, that qualifying and race in Baku – just what’s clicking then?”

“And let’s do that across the whole season.”

For Lawson, consistency rather than raw speed now appears the key to long-term security in Formula 1.

Formula 1 legend Sebastian Vettel has praised Max Verstappen for his continued improvement and mental resilience.

Speaking on the Beyond the Grid podcast, Vettel described Verstappen’s ongoing development as “the scary thing” about the Dutch driver.

The four-time world champion highlighted Verstappen’s ability to keep learning, stay composed under pressure, and maintain focus in critical moments.

“We know he’s good,” Vettel said. “But he’s still improving, he’s still hungry, he’s still willing to learn. I think he’s working very hard behind the scenes as well, and that’s what makes him so strong.

“And of course he’s blessed with a lot of talent on top of that, but even if he’s one of the most talented drivers on the grid, I think ultimately what makes him so strong… it’s always a combination.

“But the key ingredient is his head. In the situations where it matters, he keeps his head, hardly ever makes a mistake, delivers when he needs to, feels the pressure – we all do, I don’t think it’s possible [for anybody not to] feel the pressure – but he’s able to find a space in his head where he’s able to put that to his side and focus on what matters.”

A More Mature Approach

Vettel also noted that Verstappen’s approach has matured over the years.

“He still goes for the impossible gaps and makes them possible, which is great in his skill, but he doesn’t go for all the gaps because he knows they’re not important right now,” he said.

“If he needs to get a move on, an overtake, he’s probably one of the best going through the field quickly, but if he knows ‘I’ve got time and it doesn’t actually matter’, he’s not panicking anymore.”

Vettel’s comments underscore the combination of natural talent and mental fortitude that has propelled Verstappen to the top of the sport.

The Dutchman’s ability to balance risk with composure continues to make him a dominant force on the Formula 1 grid.

Christian Horner has two children, and his text message scandal made waves in the Formula 1 paddock.

Christian Horner is one of the most recognizable figures in modern Formula 1. As the long-standing team principal and CEO of Red Bull Racing, Horner has played a central role in building the team into a championship-winning powerhouse. However, his career has not been without controversy, and his personal life has often been the subject of public scrutiny.

Horner began his journey in motorsport as a young racing driver, competing in lower formula series before transitioning into management. His keen understanding of both the technical and competitive aspects of the sport allowed him to rise quickly through the ranks. In 2005, at the age of 31, he became the team principal of Red Bull Racing, making him one of the youngest team leaders in Formula 1 history. His leadership coincided with Red Bull’s rise from a mid-field team to a dominant force in the sport.

Under Horner’s guidance, Red Bull Racing achieved unprecedented success, capturing multiple Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships. Horner became known for his sharp strategic mind, calm communication under pressure, and ability to manage high-profile drivers, including Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen, and Sergio Pérez. His approach combined technical knowledge with strong leadership, establishing Red Bull as a major contender against traditional powerhouses like Mercedes and Ferrari.

Christian Horner’s financial success reflects his prominent role in Formula 1. Over his career, he has amassed an estimated net worth of around £40 million. His salary as Red Bull’s team principal was reported to be in the region of $10 million annually, with additional performance-based bonuses tied to the team’s success. Beyond salary, Horner’s wealth includes investments and property, contributing to his substantial financial standing. His business acumen and long-term involvement in a championship-winning team have secured him one of the highest earnings among Formula 1 engineers and managers.

In his personal life, Horner is married to former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. The couple married in 2015 and have a son together, Montague George Hector, born in 2017. Horner also has a daughter, Olivia, from a previous relationship, and he is a stepfather to Halliwell’s daughter, Bluebell. His family life has often attracted media attention, particularly due to his high-profile marriage and the visibility of his role in Formula 1.

Horner’s career faced a significant challenge in early 2024 when he became embroiled in a text message scandal. A female Red Bull employee raised concerns about alleged inappropriate messages and behaviour. The allegations prompted an independent investigation, which concluded without finding evidence of misconduct. However, shortly afterward, a large number of private WhatsApp messages and images were leaked anonymously to team executives, media outlets, and even the FIA. The content included messages of a sexual or suggestive nature, sparking widespread debate and scrutiny within the Formula 1 community.

Horner publicly denied any wrongdoing, describing the allegations as speculation and emphasizing that he had fully cooperated with the investigation. Despite the controversy, he remained in his position for some time. The incident, however, continued to generate media attention and discussion among fans, particularly in the context of team dynamics and professional conduct in motorsport.

In September 2025, Red Bull officially announced Horner’s departure from the team. While the reasons for his exit were not publicly detailed, it marked the end of a two-decade tenure in which he had transformed Red Bull Racing into a global Formula 1 powerhouse. Reports suggest that Horner received a significant severance package, further bolstering his already substantial net worth. His departure coincided with broader organizational changes within the team, signaling a new chapter in both his life and Red Bull’s trajectory.

Christian Horner’s legacy in Formula 1 is multifaceted. On one hand, he is celebrated for his role in transforming Red Bull into a championship-winning team, demonstrating strategic acumen, leadership, and dedication. On the other hand, the text message scandal and subsequent scrutiny highlight the challenges of navigating high-profile roles under public and media pressure. Despite the controversy, Horner remains a highly influential figure in motorsport, with a career defined by both remarkable achievements and notable challenges.

McLaren has officially ended its association with Irish driver Alex Dunne, bringing an end to the youngster’s two-year stint in their driver development program.

The announcement came ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, confirming that the 19-year-old would be leaving the British outfit.

Dunne has been one of the most promising names to emerge in the junior ranks, currently competing in Formula 2, where he has already secured two victories in his rookie season.

During his time with McLaren, Dunne was given the opportunity to drive in Formula 1 machinery, participating in FP1 sessions at both the Austrian and Italian Grands Prix.

READ Yuki Tsunoda Makes Daniel Ricciardo Revelation Amid Pressure From Liam Lawson

He impressed by setting the fourth-fastest time in Austria and a respectable 16th in Monza, showcasing his adaptability and pace in top-tier cars.

Despite this, McLaren’s established driver lineup of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri has left no available seat for the young talent to progress within the team.

With no clear path forward, Dunne’s departure was announced as a mutual decision, leaving him free to explore opportunities elsewhere in Formula 1.

Red Bull Confirm Interest in Dunne

Speculation quickly followed that Red Bull Racing, known for its aggressive recruitment of young talent, had expressed interest in signing Dunne.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko confirmed in a recent interview that the team has indeed initiated contact with the Irish driver.

Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, Marko said: “Alex Dunne is a very fast, aggressive, young driver. That makes him a good fit for Red Bull.

“And because he’s absolutely free now, revoked by mutual agreement with McLaren, that’s someone we will talk to for sure.”

Red Bull’s driver development system is renowned for producing top-tier talent, including current world champion Max Verstappen and several other F1 graduates.

If Dunne were to join the Red Bull setup, he could find himself competing either at the main team or with their sister outfit, Racing Bulls, depending on how the team’s lineup evolves.

Possible Shake-Up in Red Bull’s 2026 Line-Up

Dunne’s potential arrival comes at a time of growing uncertainty within Red Bull’s driver structure.

Following his standout podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, young Frenchman Isack Hadjar has been tipped as a strong contender for a seat alongside Max Verstappen in 2026.

Such a move could see current driver Yuki Tsunoda lose his spot at Red Bull, despite his loyal service to the team and solid performances in recent seasons.

Tsunoda currently sits 17th in the championship standings with 20 points, trailing Verstappen by a massive 253-point margin.

While his future remains uncertain, a demotion back to Racing Bulls alongside Liam Lawson is one possibility if his results do not improve over the final rounds of the season.

However, with both Alex Dunne and fellow F2 driver Arvid Lindblad waiting in the wings, even a Racing Bulls seat may be difficult for Tsunoda to retain.

The team’s emphasis on young, aggressive, and data-driven drivers could see a new wave of talent injected into Red Bull’s 2026 project.

Dunne’s Next Move Could Define His F1 Future

For Alex Dunne, joining Red Bull’s program could mark a significant step forward in his career.

The Austrian team’s history of promoting young drivers to Formula 1 has proven successful, though it is also notoriously demanding.

With his proven speed, racecraft, and experience in both F2 and F1 sessions, Dunne may well fit the Red Bull mould perfectly.

Whether he secures a development role, a Racing Bulls seat, or even a long-term pathway to Red Bull Racing itself, the next few months could be decisive for the young Irishman’s future.

Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson has opened up about comparing himself to Red Bull star Max Verstappen.

The New Zealander described it as “impressive to see what he does” and emphasized how even a brief time as Verstappen’s teammate offered valuable lessons.

“I’ve only raced in two races as his teammate, but even just seeing him from afar tells you a lot,” Lawson said.

Lawson began the 2025 season alongside the four-time world champion at Red Bull.

However, after just two Grands Prix, Lawson was replaced by Yuki Tsunoda and returned to Racing Bulls.

Despite the short stint, the experience provided him with insights into Verstappen’s speed, consistency, and car control.

“I’ve been comparing myself to Max for a few years now, and it’s impressive to see what he does,” Lawson added.
“He’s simply very fast, very consistent, very comfortable with the car.”

Adjusting After Red Bull Departure

Lawson reflected on the challenges of leaving Red Bull mid-season.

“The timing wasn’t the best. I only had a week before a hat-trick [of races],” he explained.
“Those were hectic times. The car also required a fairly different driving approach. I had to re-adapt, and since then, we’ve also made some changes to make me more comfortable over the course of a few races.”

He acknowledged that ideally, these adjustments would have been made before the start of the season.

“Obviously, the ideal would be to do all this before the start of the season, but I think it’s a process that has helped me feel comfortable in the last few races,” Lawson said.

Rediscovering Form at Racing Bulls

After a tough start to 2025, Lawson appears to have regained his form.

His career-best weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix saw him qualify in P3, boosting his confidence and standings.

The 23-year-old now sits on 30 points, just nine behind high-flying rookie and teammate Isack Hadjar.

Lawson admitted that the early-season struggles were partly due to limited testing opportunities.

Returning to Racing Bulls has allowed him to adjust and perform more consistently across the races.

Looking Ahead

Lawson’s reflections highlight the challenges rookies face in Formula 1 when moving between teams mid-season.

Comparisons with a driver of Verstappen’s caliber provide perspective but also set high standards to reach.

As he continues the 2025 campaign, Lawson seems determined to build on his recent performances and maintain momentum at Racing Bulls.

Max Verstappen’s long-term future in Formula 1 remains one of the sport’s most intriguing storylines, and former Ferrari driver Eddie Irvine has sent him a warning after he snubbed Mercedes.

The reigning four-time world champion was linked with a potential switch to Mercedes earlier this year, but the expiry of a clause in his Red Bull contract put any move on hold until at least next season.

With sweeping new regulations arriving in 2026, Verstappen now has the opportunity to assess the competitive order before making any decisions.

Among the possible destinations in the future is Ferrari, a team that has long been linked to the Dutchman, despite its current line-up featuring Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton’s Late Arrival at Ferrari

Irvine, who partnered Michael Schumacher at Ferrari from 1996 to 1999, believes Hamilton waited too long to join the Scuderia.

“The problem with Lewis, he came a bit too old, but he won seven world championships, so there’s always a price,” Irvine told Sky Sports.

At 40, Hamilton’s first season with Ferrari has been difficult, raising questions about whether the move should have been made earlier in his career.

Irvine hopes Verstappen avoids making the same mistake.

“I would love Verstappen to come to Ferrari. I think the two of them together would be sensational. I hope he doesn’t leave it too late like Lewis did.”

Lessons From Schumacher’s Risk

The former Ferrari driver also reflected on Schumacher’s move from Benetton to Ferrari, a decision that initially cost him championships but ultimately built the foundation for dominance.

“Michael probably gave up two, three, maybe even more world championships to leave Benetton to go [to Ferrari],” Irvine recalled.

“In the first few years, people have no idea how bad it was at Ferrari. Michael knew. There was no point for him. He was so much better than everyone else. He just decided, ‘I’m going to go there. I’m going to see what I can do,’ which was amazing, and he got there.

“But people forget, it took four years. He was always in the vicinity. He was driving the wheels off the thing to try and be there, so it was very easy for it not to happen.”

Schumacher eventually led Ferrari to five consecutive titles, cementing both his legacy and the team’s resurgence.

Could Verstappen Trigger a Similar Shift?

Irvine suggested that Verstappen has the same potential to transform Ferrari in the way Schumacher once did.

“Back in my day, you had Michael come; he was seen as by far the fastest driver. Because of that, Rory Byrne came, Ross [Brawn] came, and that whole team was built around the fact that Michael was another world.

“A bit like Verstappen is now, where if Verstappen went somewhere, he could take a lot of people. Without the whole system together, everyone’s at the same level. It’s tough, Formula 1’s tough.”

He also highlighted the challenges unique to Ferrari.

“It’s very difficult at Ferrari, because they’re on their own in Italy. The British teams are all surrounded by other teams, and there’s cross-pollination. It’s so much more difficult to be on your own in Maranello. That’s it. It’s always more difficult for Ferrari.”

McLaren as an Example of What’s Possible

Looking beyond Ferrari, Irvine praised McLaren for its remarkable turnaround under CEO Zak Brown.

“I’m amazed at what McLaren has done, from where they’ve come from. It just shows you it’s possible. Ron Dennis never thought that [winning a title as an independent] was possible. And Zak Brown is really 10 out of 10. He’s done an amazing job.”

For Verstappen, the decision over whether to pursue Ferrari remains a long-term consideration, but Irvine’s message is clear: if the Dutchman wants to make the move, he cannot afford to wait until his peak years are behind him.

The 2025 Italian Grand Prix has delivered another dramatic weekend of racing, and while the iconic Monza circuit often throws up surprises, the outcome reinforced a growing trend in this season’s Formula 1 campaign: McLaren’s complete dominance.

With the September race now in the books, the team from Woking extends its commanding lead in the Constructors’ Championship, while rivals Ferrari and Mercedes scramble to salvage momentum heading into the final stretch of the calendar.

McLaren’s Year of Perfection

McLaren sits comfortably at the top of the standings with an astonishing 617 points, a margin that illustrates just how far ahead they are compared to the rest of the grid. The combination of performance, strategy, and consistency has allowed the British outfit to transform what began as a tight title battle into a one-sided affair.

The Italian Grand Prix only confirmed what many in the paddock have suspected for months: McLaren has set the standard in 2025. Their package has been quick on both high-speed tracks like Monza and more technical circuits, leaving rivals with little opportunity to exploit weaknesses.

The dominance has sparked debate about whether McLaren could wrap up the Constructors’ title earlier than any team in recent history. With over double the points of second-placed Ferrari, it is increasingly a matter of “when” rather than “if” the championship will be secured.

Ferrari’s Home Race Frustrations

Ferrari entered Monza with high hopes of putting on a show for the passionate Tifosi, but the results underlined the gap between themselves and the leaders. Sitting second in the standings with 280 points, Ferrari has made progress compared to recent seasons, yet McLaren’s runaway form has left them battling for little more than pride.

While podium finishes remain achievable, Ferrari’s struggles in maintaining tire performance and race-day pace have made it difficult to mount any consistent challenge. The Italian GP was symbolic of this wider issue: flashes of speed in qualifying, followed by a race where McLaren quickly pulled clear.

Despite the disappointment, Ferrari remains locked into a fight for runner-up in the championship, with Mercedes lurking just 20 points behind.

Mercedes vs. Red Bull Battle

Mercedes, third in the standings with 260 points, continues to show glimpses of revival but lacks the all-round sharpness needed to consistently challenge for wins. The Italian GP provided yet another example of their fluctuating form, as strong strategy calls were undermined by pace deficits against McLaren and Ferrari.

Red Bull Racing, meanwhile, has endured a difficult season by its high standards. Currently fourth on 239 points, the team has struggled to adapt to the shifting dynamics of the 2025 regulations. Once the dominant force in Formula 1, Red Bull now finds itself battling for scraps while trying to rebuild momentum.

The rivalry between Mercedes and Red Bull for third in the standings is one of the key storylines heading into the final races of the season. With just 21 points separating the two, every result will matter in the fight for bragging rights.

The Midfield Scrap

Further down the order, Williams continues to impress as the standout of the midfield. Their tally of 86 points puts them a clear fifth, far ahead of Aston Martin (62) and Racing Bulls (61). Williams’ resurgence has been one of the season’s most uplifting narratives, driven by smart development and consistent points finishes.

Behind them, Aston Martin and Racing Bulls are locked in a close contest for sixth, with just one point between the two. Both teams are desperate to maximize opportunities in the final races, knowing every place in the Constructors’ standings carries significant financial and reputational rewards.

Kick Sauber, Haas, and Alpine round out the table with 55, 44, and 20 points respectively. For these teams, the Italian Grand Prix was less about podium glory and more about securing valuable points to avoid slipping further behind in the competitive midfield shuffle.

Looking Ahead to Azerbaijan

Attention now shifts to the next race in Azerbaijan, where the tight streets of Baku will present a very different challenge. The long straights could favor teams with stronger power units, while the technical sections will test chassis balance and driver precision.

For McLaren, the task will be to extend their near-insurmountable lead even further. Ferrari and Mercedes will aim to claw back ground, while Red Bull desperately needs a strong result to keep its hopes of a top-three finish alive.

The midfield battle promises to remain fierce, with Williams eager to defend its position as “best of the rest” against determined challengers.

As the 2025 season heads into its final phase, the Italian Grand Prix has made one thing clear: McLaren’s stranglehold on the championship is stronger than ever. The only real question left is how soon they can officially celebrate their return to the top of Formula 1.

Red Bull’s technical maestro, Adrian Newey, has amassed a wealth equivalent to that of the team’s principal, Christian Horner, following nearly two decades of dedicated work behind the scenes.

Widely regarded as the pre-eminent technical genius in the annals of Formula 1, Newey has been the creative force behind Red Bull’s cars since his arrival at the team in 2005.

At 65 years of age, Newey has played a pivotal role in sculpting Red Bull’s recent supremacy, adeptly navigating the extensive regulatory alterations implemented in 2022.

Concurrently, he has delved into other exhilarating projects, including his involvement with Aston Martin in crafting their Valkyrie road car.

READ: Helmut Marko finally breaks silence on Christian Horner allegations

Accruing a substantial personal fortune over the years, Newey’s net worth is estimated at approximately £39.6 million, a figure rivaling that of Red Bull’s helm, Horner, valued just shy of £40 million according to CelebrityNetWorth.

Whilst the precise financial terms of Newey’s contract remain undisclosed, his stature as the most successful designer in F1 history ensures his fiscal comfort.

Reports suggest that Red Bull enticed Newey from McLaren almost two decades ago with a salary in the region of £7.9 million per season, as reported by The Guardian.

Nevertheless, murmurs suggest that Red Bull’s austerity measures may see Newey estranged from their F1 operations in the foreseeable future.

Allegedly, plans are afoot to reassign Newey exclusively to the RB17 hypercar project, thus expunging his salary from their accounts and releasing funds within their budget.

Under extant regulations, salaries of personnel must be fully declared if they exert any influence within the sport.

Thus, were Newey to transition permanently to the RB17 initiative, he would effectively be precluded from contributing to the team’s F1 endeavours.

Furthermore, conjecture abounds regarding Newey’s future should Horner face dismissal amid allegations of misconduct.

The ongoing investigation into purported ‘inappropriate behaviour’ following a complaint lodged by a female Red Bull employee could potentially precipitate Horner’s ousting.

READ: Max Verstappen ‘amused’ by Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari

Although Newey and Horner have enjoyed a highly fruitful partnership, former Williams team manager Peter Windsor speculates on the ramifications of Horner’s hypothetical departure.

Windsor postulates that, in the event of Horner’s exit, Newey may contemplate retirement, perceiving it as the denouement of an era characterised by their harmonious collaboration.

In a YouTube discourse, Windsor mused, “If Christian departs, it’ll obviously be bad for Christian, but I think the bigger effect will be what effect it has on Adrian’s future.”

Christian Horner has once again found himself at the centre of the Formula 1 rumour mill, with speculation intensifying that the former Red Bull Racing team principal could be heading to Ferrari. The British team boss, who had been with Red Bull since 2005 and oversaw multiple world championship triumphs, was unexpectedly removed from his position earlier this season following internal tensions and a widely reported breakdown in relationships within the team’s senior management.

Now, reports suggest that Ferrari may be eyeing Horner as the man to lead them back to championship glory, a move that could shake up the Formula 1 paddock in dramatic fashion.

Sudden Departure Sparks Questions

Horner’s exit from Red Bull was as surprising as it was abrupt. For nearly two decades, he was the face of the team, guiding them from midfield newcomers to a dominant force capable of challenging and dethroning Mercedes’ reign in the hybrid era. But behind the scenes, the dynamic began to shift in recent months. Rumours of disagreements between Horner and Red Bull’s top executives, as well as disputes over the team’s strategic direction, eventually boiled over.

The announcement of his departure left fans and pundits scrambling for answers, with speculation rife over whether his removal was part of a broader power reshuffle within the organisation. This has quickly turned into one of the biggest Christian Horner news stories of the year.

Ferrari’s Possible Interest

While the Italian team has not confirmed any approach, the whispers from Maranello have grown louder. Ferrari, despite showing flashes of competitiveness in recent seasons, has not won a Constructors’ Championship since 2008 or a Drivers’ title since Kimi Räikkönen’s victory in 2007.

Current team principal Frédéric Vasseur has overseen steady progress, but the pressure to deliver results in the high-stakes environment of Ferrari is relentless. In that context, the idea of bringing in Horner—one of the most successful team bosses in modern F1—would be an attractive proposition. Horner’s proven track record of managing top-tier drivers, building strong technical teams, and maintaining competitive consistency could be exactly what Ferrari needs to mount a serious championship challenge. If the Christian Horner Ferrari move happens, it would instantly become one of the most talked-about leadership changes in recent Formula 1 history.

What Horner Could Bring to Ferrari

Horner’s reputation as a shrewd operator both on and off the track would be a major asset for Ferrari. At Red Bull, he played a key role in attracting top engineering talent, securing lucrative sponsorship deals, and fostering an environment that allowed drivers like Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen to flourish. Ferrari, known for its passionate but sometimes politically charged atmosphere, could benefit from Horner’s ability to navigate high-pressure situations and manage egos effectively.

His close relationships within the F1 paddock, combined with his deep understanding of the sport’s technical regulations, could also help Ferrari push the boundaries in the development race against rivals like Mercedes, McLaren, and his former team, Red Bull. However, integrating into Ferrari’s unique culture—rooted in Italian heritage and tradition—would present a challenge. Even the most talented outsiders have struggled to adapt to the expectations that come with leading the Scuderia.

Reaction From the Paddock

The potential move has already sparked mixed reactions among fans and insiders. Some believe Horner’s competitive spirit and relentless drive for success make him the perfect candidate to reignite Ferrari’s championship ambitions.

Others argue that the team’s challenges are more structural and that no single leader, however talented, can quickly transform their fortunes. Former drivers and commentators have weighed in, with several noting that Horner’s experience in building a dominant team from scratch could be invaluable. Still, questions remain about whether he would be willing to take on such a high-pressure role so soon after his Red Bull exit.

The Risks and Rewards

For Ferrari, hiring Horner would be a statement of intent. It would signal a willingness to take bold steps to return to the top, even if it means disrupting the current leadership structure. But it would also be a gamble. Horner’s management style, while successful at Red Bull, may not align perfectly with Ferrari’s long-standing ways of operating. The political landscape in Maranello has often been unforgiving, and even the most capable leaders have found themselves under intense scrutiny after just a few races without success.

From Horner’s perspective, joining Ferrari would be both an opportunity and a risk. It would give him the chance to prove himself outside of Red Bull’s environment and cement his legacy as one of F1’s greatest team bosses. However, the expectations at Ferrari are sky-high, and failure could tarnish his reputation.

What Happens Next

As of now, both Horner and Ferrari have remained tight-lipped about the speculation. Officially, the Italian team continues to back Vasseur, while Horner has yet to publicly confirm his next career move. But in Formula 1, where politics and performance are deeply intertwined, sudden changes are always possible. If talks between the two parties are indeed taking place, an announcement could arrive before the start of next season, giving Horner time to influence Ferrari’s 2026 car development.

Until then, the Christian Horner news saga will continue to fuel debates across the paddock, with fans eagerly watching to see if the Christian Horner Ferrari rumours become reality. One thing is certain—whether he heads to Maranello or takes a different path, Christian Horner remains one of the most intriguing figures in modern Formula 1.

Martin Brundle has expressed his sadness and surprise following the unexpected dismissal of Christian Horner from his role as team principal of Red Bull Racing.

After two decades leading the team, Horner’s departure was officially announced on Wednesday morning, marking the end of an era that saw unprecedented success in Formula 1.

Shock Announcement from Red Bull

The announcement came as a shock across the Formula 1 paddock.

Red Bull revealed that Christian Horner had been let go after 20 years in charge of the team.

In his place, Laurent Mekies, currently serving as the team principal of Racing Bulls, has been promoted to lead Red Bull Racing.

Alan Permane, Racing Bulls’ sporting director, has now stepped into Mekies’ position at the sister outfit.

The shake-up has triggered strong reactions throughout the sport, including from Sky Sports F1 analyst and former driver Martin Brundle.

Brundle Reacts with Surprise and Sadness

Brundle, known for his deep insights and long-standing presence in F1, admitted he was taken aback by the decision.

“It’s completely out of the blue, given things that are going on and the problems in the team, words you’re getting, and out of Team Verstappen and others,” Brundle told Sky Sports F1.

“I’m quite sad about it, if I’m honest. I consider Christian a friend, and he’s done an incredible job there for 20 years, won an awful lot of races and world championships for drivers and for the team.”

Brundle’s comments reflect the high regard Horner is held in by many within the sport, both for his personal relationships and his professional achievements.

Horner’s Legacy at Red Bull

During his time at the helm, Christian Horner oversaw Red Bull Racing’s rise to dominance in Formula 1.

Under his leadership, the team secured 14 world titles — seven for drivers and seven for constructors.

Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel each claimed four drivers’ championships during Horner’s tenure.

“He took it from what was the Stewart team through Jaguar, and its struggles to a massive campus in Milton Keynes and an awful lot of success and a huge trophy cabinet,” Brundle said, highlighting the transformation Horner brought to the organisation.

The team’s evolution from its humble beginnings into a powerhouse in the sport is a major part of Horner’s legacy.

Trouble Behind the Scenes

Despite the immense success, Martin Brundle acknowledged that recent signs suggested all was not well within the Red Bull camp.

“But it hasn’t been difficult to feel in the Formula One paddock and to observe and hear things that things were not particularly rosy,” he added.

Tensions behind the scenes, rumours, and paddock chatter have hinted at unrest, but few expected such a swift and decisive move.

As the dust settles, the Formula 1 world will be watching closely to see how Red Bull Racing adapts to the leadership change and whether the team can maintain its dominance under Mekies.
